Seems like everybody loves a hashtag trend, but we especially do when it's highlighting powerful females and female identifying people around the globe. Here at 117 we'll be spotlighting a new southwest-based woman each week as part of our #WCW. First up, It's L U C Y.
If you hadn't yet heard of L U C Y, you were probably about to. Born in Bristol, L U C Y has just returned after two years studying in Surrey at ACM Guilford where she cracked down on her production skills and this year earned runner up at the Red Bull Riddim Rally where she went up against Sh?m, Anz, Bushido in the finals, judged by none other than Capo Lee, A.G. and Faze Miyake. Earlier in the year she released a 13-track mix tape which spiralled in and out of trippy, dark and ethereal samples with elements of grime, dubstep, trap and R'n'B. As well as recently doing a guest mix for Snoochie Shy on Radar Radio, L U C Y supported Faze Miyake and Sir Spyro when RBMA came to Bristol in Augutst. You can catch her on the radio with us on 30th September, details TBA. She's one to watch so make sure you do, you can listen to a track from her mixtape below and click through to follow her on soundcloud.
