After a series of podcasts and a digital compilation release, emerging southwest label Off-Switch Audio are coming through with the goods in the form of their first 12" white label release.
OSA001 is fronted by track "Rezonate" from up-and-coming producer Nuboid featuring subtle synth melodies laced with soft harmonising sub-bass creating an ambient ethereal delight suitable for accompanying your existential wonderings via headphones as you walk home from a weird night out.
The first remix by Six Sunsets picks it up a little with a classic bass-heavy grime take on the track featuring choppy percussion and distorted strings. It's a strong remix that just asks for bars to be spat.
Our favourite from the record is the second remix by Sam ULG. A characteristically "instrumental" track with a more pensive take on grime, it sits comfortably without need for vocals - think Last Japan or Drone. Sitting at a steady 135 BPM, the track fuses vocal cuts with the sounds of lasers and gunshots and whilst these recycled sounds may run a risk, the track avoids mediocrity and retains the ethereal nature of the original, ending the record on a high.
OSA001 is out soon on 12” vinyl through Off-Switch Audio. Pre-order via Big Cartell

Last Saturday 30th September we were invited to curate a show by one of our favourite Bristol brands Psychotherapy Sessions aka PTS on Noods Radio. Along with our own Beth, we brought two of our favourite artists of the moment; Ngaio and L U C Y.
0 - 31mins - L U C Y is in the mix with her trademark array of grime and dubstep riddims
31 - 1hr 4mins - Beth then comes in with grime, 130 and UK funky bits (her headphones weren't working for the first half so embrace the clangers <3 )
1hr 4m - 1hr 30m - Ngaio ups the tempo into a wide array of what she likes to call Booty Bass.
1hr 30 - 2hr - It's B2B w/ Ngaio, L U C Y & Beth
2 - 3hr - PTS's Ye Ye joins Beth on the decks.
Lock in below and stay tuned for more from us in the near future. Follow us on Soundcloud to hear future shows
A rising name in the Bristol dub scene, Dutchie has amassed respect for her melodic productions with hints of jazzy brass and warped vocals as well as her passion and proactivity for and within playing records. We met up with her to talk about the event and brand Revinyl sessions as well as her musical influences and why producing with her own vocals was a huge challenge.
Bristol-based Unkey has been rising to the top of our "go-to" list over the past year. With his 2016 track "Karate Club" (Durkle Disco vol.2) still at the forefront of our music collection we were happy to find out there was an EP imminent, again from Bristol label Durkle Disco.
Following on from last week's #wcw, we bring you Ngaio - the songwriter, vocalist and newly emerging DJ with root's running deep through the Bristol scene.
From the annual UK Funky Day Party, to Sprung XO, to Sprung Nights, this brand has been spread far without dilution which is a credit to the design and feel of the whole thing. The friendship held within the brand is evident from the founders to the crowd and reflects in the parties they hold. After their third annual UK Funky party took place over the summer, we caught up with Jenny, Max, Ferris and Xav to hear a little more about it.
Pearly Whites Vol.2 was released last night at 20:00 GMT and it's everything you'd hope for in a label's follow-up compilation.
Seems like everybody loves a hashtag trend, but we especially do when it's highlighting powerful females and female identifying people around the globe. Here at 117 we'll be spotlighting a new southwest-based woman each week as part of our #WCW. First up, It's L U C Y.
Vern & Milla make up two thirds of the founding curators of Prjkts, a label synonymous with forward thinking, open ended club music. The pair originally came together in 2012 through a mutual love for electronic music and have since become trailblazers in their own rights. 117 are excited to bring you the first listen of track from their debut album which has already seen support from the likes of Scratcha DVA and Dusk & Blackdown whilst the album has seen play across Radio 1, 1Xtra, Rinse FM and Radar radio.
Released on the 20th September digitally and on limited edition cassette, the duo’s debut album ‘Ethereal Alarms’ journeys through dreamlike soundscapes and cutting club workouts, blending nostalgic flickers of Minneapolis funk with contemporary, cutting edge club music never settling on a motive long enough to weigh it down to a specific genre. You can listen to our premiere of track "Ethereal Alarms pt.2" below or on our Soundcloud.
